If you’ve never been to a Youthwork Summit event, it’s time to join the party. Since 2010, we’ve been organising a unique annual one-day convention for every kind of Christian involved in every kind of work with young people. Why unique? Because over the course of just one day, you’ll hear more than 30 diverse voices presenting their big ideas about Christian youth work. For 5, 10… 15 minutes at the most, we ask a mix of world-leading experts and grass roots practitioners to take to the stage for a series of high-impact presentations – then create an atmosphere of interaction and engagement to ensure their ideas are accessed and developed by our delegates.
Here’s how it works. Our venue is a vast and wonderful auditorium where over 1,000 youth workers can gather together. We start at 9.30 in the morning with worship and a strong cup of coffee. Through the day we run sessions, normally about an hour and quarter in length. In each of these sessions you’ll hear 6 or 7 speakers who’ll talk about the latest research, new models of youth work, Biblical reflection and more. Past Summit have included speakers from major social media and television companies, theologians, youth workers from the UK and around the world and, of course, young people themselves. Between sessions there’ll be breaks to grab more coffee and talk further with the speakers. Our final session will include an extended time of worship and a final word from one of our keynote speakers.
Dr Tony Campolo is known all over the world as a passionate and powerful speaker. His books have inspired millions of Christians about social justice, lifestyle and faith. Tony is flying in from the US especially to join us at YWS13.
Good question. Tickets are booked online from the link on this website. It takes you to our booking system where you can choose the number of tickets you want and part with just a little of your hard-earned cash or youth budget. The standard ticket price is £35 which is fantastic value for the incredible array of speakers and content you’ll get on the day. We’ve priced it as low as we can so it’s possible for you to bring your whole youth team including volunteers.
Tickets for the 2013 Summit are limited are will be released in three batches. For the weekend of the 2012 Summit (that’s Saturday 19th May through to midnight on Sunday 20th May) anyone can buy tickets for the ridiculously reduced price of £20. That’s a whopping £15 off the standard price. If you want the best bargain, there won’t be a cheaper and better time to buy tickets than this.
Then ticket sales will close until we launch our special Early Bird offer on 1st October 2012. For two weeks (that’s Monday 1st October through to Sunday 14th October) you can buy tickets at a special discounted rate. We’ll be announcing the prices in due course. Finally, from 1st February 2013, standard tickets will be on sale. There’ll also be extra events around the Summit on Friday 17th May. We’ll be announcing these soon. Anyone who’s already booked tickets for the main event will automatically get any discount we offer for these.
When and what times is the 2013 Summit? It’s on Saturday 18th May 2013 running from 9.30am through to 7.30pm.
Where is it? We make a point of holding the Summit somewhere different in the UK each year. For 2013 we’re in the Midlands at Bethel Convention Centre in West Bromwich, just off the M5. The full address is Bethel Convention Centre, Kelvin Way, West Bromwich, B70 7JW.
What about overnight accommodation? There are loads of good value hotels in the area, plus we’ll be announcing other budget alternatives in the near future. A travel and accommodation section of this website will be launched closer to the Summit itself, with links to all the options.
What about getting to the Summit? Full travel information will follow, but the good news is that the venue is easily accessible by both car and public transport.
How can I get in touch with the YWS Team to ask a question? Easy. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get straight back to you.
Just listening to Mark Yaconelli at the YWS retreat was amazing. I felt like I had space to stop for the first time in weeks. Why don’t we do that more. I must learn to make retreat and reflection part of my life. All that other stuff can wait! Help me to be better at stopping Lord.
Honest, challenging, thought-provoking, inspirational, spiritual, mind blowing, deep, living, alive and ogoing.
All in one at YWS11.
Best job in the world.
The day has been amazing. Thank you so much for organising the retreat yesterday as well - I felt loved for the first time in a long time. I’m so desperate to run out and tell the world!! (or at least my youth group!)
